Two Doctors come to Collingwood to speak about The Growing Health & Wellbeing Boom in South Georgian Bay on April 28
dr. greg-wellsDr Greg Wells can barely contain his enthusiasm when you ask him about health and wellbeing in Collingwood and the South Georgian Bay area.  “There is a special combination of water, food, rest and movement that the beautiful landscape and energy of the community creates.”
He speaks not only from his experience visiting with his family, as well as biking and skiing in the area, but also from the more than 50 health practitioners he has interviewed over the last 5 months.  What has he gleaned?  “You’re poised to become a shining example of what it takes to become a thriving health & wellbeing community in Canada.”
Dr. Wells is an assistant professor in kinesiology at the University of Toronto and an associate scientist of physiology and experimental medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children. At U of T, Dr. Wells studies elite sport performance, and at Sick Kids he leads the Exercise Medicine Research Program where his team explores how to use exercise to prevent, diagnose and treat chronic illnesses in children.  Throughout his career, Dr. Wells has coached, trained and inspired dozens of elite athletes to win medals at the Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Olympics. He has studied athletic performance in some of the most severe conditions on the planet, all of which is captured in his book “Superbodies: Peak Performance from the World’s Best Athletes”.
A presentation by Dr Greg Wells alone is inspiring. Imagine him paired up with another trailblazing doctor in personalized medicine on how to stay healthier longer, Doctor Elaine Chin!
dr-CHIN_siteDr. Chin is the Chief Wellness Officer at TELUS Communications. Her primary focus has been to deliver world class wellness programs to Canadians by integrating digital health technology and the science of precision medicine.  In addition, she is the founder of Executive Health Centre, a premiere personalized medicine practice in Toronto.  Here expertise in the power of telomeres science supports her claim that everyone can help themselves live longer, perform better – and feel younger too – and is the foundation for her book,“Lifelines – unlocking the secret of your telomeres for a longer, healthier life”, a Globe and Mail Top 10 Best Seller List.
For the first time ever, Doctor Wells and Doctor Chin will be doing a joint live presentation right here in Collingwood on April 28, 2016.
This extraordinary presentation is part of the Business in Motion Speaker Series which launched last fall with Dr David Foote.
The event will take place at the Historic Gayety Theatre between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.  It will kick-off with Doctor Wells’ presentation on High Performing Health & Wellbeing Communities followed by Doctor Chin’s talk about Personalized Medicine and Wellness: What can communities do?.  Then listen to a provocative dialogue between these two incredible doctors about how their insights can translate to the businesses, communities and organizations here in South Georgian Bay.
