Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Thornbury & Areas Celebrate Canada’s 150th!

Celebrate the country and community we call home from June 30th – July 3rd. Many of the communities around our area will be celebrating with a full line-up of activities for the entire family.
Collingwood’s celebrations will start Friday June 30th and are scheduled until Sunday, July 2nd. Of course, Canada Day wouldn’t be complete without Collingwood’s famous pancake breakfast, Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony, gigantic Canada Day birthday cake, and spectacular fireworks show.
A highlight of Collingwood’s scheduled activities on Saturday, July 1st include:

  • Pancake Breakfast 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
    Town Hall, 97 Hurontario Street (under the clock tower)
    Join family and friends in this Canada Day tradition, enjoying delicious pancakes, prepared by our Celebrity Chefs.  While you are waitingfor the pancakes, enjoy the giant games provided by Healthy Kids Community Challenge
  • 31st Annual Kids’ Fish Derby  8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Collingwood Harbour
    The event takes place at Shipyard Park near the boat launching station. Kids fish and compete for trophies in various categories and age groups including the biggest fish, smallest fish, and ugliest fish. They enter the casting contest, after mastering the technique, for trophies. All children are treated to barbequed hot dogs and pop.
  • The Lumberjack Show 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
    Sheffer Court, 186 Hurontario Street (between 3rd and 4th Streets)
    Featuring comedy, axe juggling and gigantic muscles, ending with a daring aerial rope act.  Each show is followed by a towering 9’ Lumberjack strolling the streets of Downtown Collingwood.
  •  Celebration of Canadian Song & Dance 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
    Millennium Park, 1 Heritage Drive (behind the Grain Terminals)
    Bring the family down for a wonderful musical experience as we showcase a roster of incredible local talent are showcased.
  • Fireworks 10:00 p.m.
    Best views are from Millennium Park, but the Shipyards Amphitheatre or anywhere along the Waterfront Promenade will not disappoint!

A highlight of Thornbury’s activities include:
A Beaver Crawl, Pancake breakfast, live music, balloon twisting, face painting, a photo booth, magic show, Rotary BBQ and the Thornbury Harbour Air Show- performed by Gordon Price.  Adorned in Thornbury’s red and white theme, these special events are planned for Friday, June 30th and Saturday, July 1st.  An action packed weekend for area residents, businesses and visitors has been planned in Thornbury. Blue Mountain Village
Canada 150th Day celebrations have also been planned at Blue Mountain Village. Their activities have been planned for Saturday, July 1st – Monday, July 3rd and include various music activities, a Beavertail Eating Contest, a Magic Show, a Ventriloquist, a movie under the stars and of course – Fireworks!!
