Collingwood is renowned for its picturesque waterfront parks. However, as the popularity of these parks continues to soar, managing parking and ensuring a pleasant experience for both residents and visitors has become a top priority. That’s why the Town of Collingwood has developed a parking permit for its residents to ensure free access to their local waterfronts.

Paid Parking Implementation

In an effort to alleviate parking congestion and promote fair usage, Collingwood has introduced paid parking at four of its waterfront parks: Sunset Point Park, Princeton Shores, Harbourlands Park, and Millennium Park. Effective from Friday, May 19, 2023, until Monday, October 9, 2023, paid parking will be enforced seven days a week. This initiative aims to strike a balance between accommodating visitors and maintaining the parks’ natural beauty and accessibility.

Parking Rates and Duration

To provide flexibility for park visitors, Collingwood has established a tiered pricing structure for parking. The rates are set at $10 per hour, with a daily maximum of $50. This arrangement allows individuals to choose the duration of their stay according to their preferences, while ensuring turnover and availability for others. Whether you’re planning a quick stroll or a full day of recreation, the pricing options cater to various needs and budgets.

Resident Parking Permits

Collingwood residents have the advantage of obtaining Special Seasonal Resident Permits, enabling them to park for free at the designated waterfront park locations. The process of acquiring a permit has been made convenient through the HotSpot app. Each resident is eligible to apply for up to two digital parking permits, which must be renewed annually to confirm their current address and vehicle information.

Non-Resident Parking Permits

Visitors and non-residents of Collingwood also have the opportunity to secure parking permits. Non-resident permits are available for purchase at a cost of $100, including HST. This option grants non-residents the privilege of parking at the waterfront parks without the hassle of searching for metered spaces or worrying about parking tickets. The implementation of non-resident permits aims to accommodate visitors while also contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the parks.

Permit Assistance and Support

Collingwood understands that navigating the permit registration process can be overwhelming for some individuals. To provide assistance and ensure a smooth experience, the town has created a comprehensive waterfront parking page on its official website. Additionally, you can reach out to the town by phone at 705-445-1030 or by email at service@collingwood.ca for further support and guidance.
