Join Creemore Springs in Creemore, ON – Saturday, May 14th, for a truly unique bike tour. Inspired by the vintage rides of Europe, Turas Mór – meaning ‘Great Journey’ in Gaelic – is a 61km cycling journey on gravel and non-gravel roads through the rolling hills of Creemore. The event is In Partnership with MultiSport Canada.
One challenging route– a 61km journey taking you through the scenic, rolling hills and the beautiful countryside of Clearview Township. The ride can be considered challenging with gravel roads and a few steep climbs, but it will be memorable and rewarding with two incredible rest stops located at Terra Nova Public House and the village of Dunedin. Route Map
Riders are encouraged to wear vintage jerseys and gear and to ride on a “heroic” bikes made prior to 1987.
Preference for vintage rides would be to have three of the following criteria:
- Steel frame or a frame made in 1987 or earlier
- Non-indexed shifting
- Old style toe clip pedals with straps
- Single speed
- Downtube shift levers
- Tubular tires
Things that could disqualify you from being heroic, even if you have three of the above
- suspension forks
- carbon frame
Bike mechanics will be at the ready at a few stops along the routes, as well as an on-course marshal to ensure no one rides alone. However, all riders must be self-sufficient as the mechanical support is limited.
No heroic bike, no problem, other road worthy gravel bikes are welcome!
